WILD WEST KINGFISH TOURNAMENT SERIES RULES

 It is the responsibility for each Captain & team members to understand & abide by the tournament rules listed below:

  • Captain’s Meetings are mandatory. One person from each team must be present

  • The Tournament Director has until the end of the 1st Captain’s Meeting to make changes to the rules of the tournament.

  • All teams must be registered & entry fees for the entire tournament series paid for no later than the first Captain's Meeting on April 4th.

  • Registration fees are $2400 plus sales tax for the entire tournament series.

  •  If payment is made by check and the check does not clear the bank due to insufficient funds, a $35 fee will be charged to team and they must then pay the registration fees by cash only

  • The only eligible species for this tournament series is kingfish

  • Boundaries to be published soon

  • Fishing begins at first light (approximately 5:45am). No lines in water prior to this time.

  • Check out is from John’s Pass only. Teams must meet check out boat inside John’s Pass and then proceed to John’s Pass light for shotgun start.

  • Hand held rods & reels only

  • Florida saltwater fishing license is required except from a boat which has a valid recreational vessel saltwater fishing license or any FL Resident 65 years or older, or anyone excluded by FL law. License not required when fishing with a charter captain

  • All boats must carry a Coast Guard approved flotation device for each person on their vessel plus an approved EPIRB and/or PLB plus an approved fire extinguisher and all other safety devices required by the Coast Guard.

  • No passing of anything between boats during the tournaments. This would result in automatic disqualification from that specific tournament event day.

  • One angler must hook, fight & bring fish up to point of gaff

  • The tournament encourages release of all fish not needed for tournament

  • Fish will be weighed in at the John’s Pass bell tower (Madeira Beach, FL) beginning at 4:30pm

  • Weigh in time to be determined. Anglers must be through the John’s Pass bridge no later than 5:30pm

  • Fish may only be brought to the scales by boat. Boat must be the vessel listed on Registration Form.

  • All boats must obey the no wake zones when inside John’s Pass.

  • Fish must be weighed in by a registered team member

  • No rotten or mutilated fish will be allowed to be weighed in

  • Any fish containing any foreign matter such as lead will be subject to disqualification as determined by the Weigh Master & the Tournament Director

  • Each team may weigh in one fish per tournament for judging

  • In the event of a tie, the team that weighed in their fish first wins

  • If there is a dispute of any kind, the decision of the Tournament Director is final. Protests must be accompanied by a cash fee of $500.

  • The Honor System applies throughout the tournament

  • The Aggregate is determined by the best 3 out of 4 fish weighed in during the series. The combined points of the 3 fish each team decides to enter into aggregate will be added together to determine winning points leader. 1 point per 1 lb is given for each fish

  • The Tournament Director will announce any alternate fishing dates if weather or another Act of God should affect fishing conditions.

  • Checks for the winning teams will be made out to the Captain of the team unless otherwise requested by Captain. Request must be made immediately following weigh in completion

  • 1099s for all winnings over $599 will also be made out to the Captain of the team unless otherwise requested by Captain. Request must be made immediately following weigh in completion

  • At least one person from each winning team must be present to receive check. If no one from team is at event for Awards Ceremony, they forfeit their winnings. Winnings will be added to the next tournaments payouts. If it is the last tournament of the series, winnings will be donated to the Mike Alstott Family Foundation.
